WCS 2026 Prize Cards Favor Warriors and Machines Again

We are right in the thick of the World Championship 2026 weekend in Ariake, Japan, and while the top players are stress-testing their sideboard choices, Konami has shown us the glittering bait at the end of the line. The official prize cards for the tournament have been revealed, and to the surprise of absolutely nobody, they are illegal Match Winners. We have Moonlight at Dawn waiting for the champions and Silver Belfry Battery Bastion destined for the runners-up.
Let's look at the cards. Moonlight at Dawn is a Level 8 LIGHT Warrior boasting 3000 ATK. It cannot be Special Summoned, requires three Warrior Tributes, and wins you the entire match if its direct attack drops your opponent's Life Points to zero. Silver Belfry Battery Bastion is a Level 7 DARK Machine sitting at 2500 ATK with the exact same effect, just swapped for Machine tributes. If you are playing the Duel Links Rush Duel division, you get these as gorgeous Over Rush Rares. If you are playing the Master Rule divisions in the physical TCG or Master Duel, you are getting standard Extra Secret Rares. The lack of Overframe treatment for the main formats feels like a missed aesthetic opportunity for a trophy card.
My real issue is Konami's total lack of imagination when choosing monster types for these trophies. We have seen Warriors and Machines over and over. We have had Armament of the Lethal Lords and Sakyo, Swordmaster of the Far East for Warriors, while Machines already claim Grandopolis, The Eternal Golden City and Leonardo's Silver Skyship. Where is the love for Pyro, or even a Zombie? No one is actually legalizing these to summon them in a real match, but the typed repetition is lazy.
