Genesys Format Shaken Up by June 2026 Points Update
Following the monumental results of the first Genesys YCS in Columbus, the competitive landscape is receiving a massive overhaul! Analysts like Hanko Chow and Anthony Tachella at TCGplayer have broken down the highly anticipated June 2026 Points Update for the Genesys format. With Radiant Typhoon and Kewl Tune dominating recent top tables due to their incredibly low-point engine requirements, this list aims to balance out the format's most heavily exploited staples ahead of the North American Genesys Championship (NAGC).
The most notable changes directly target generic board breakers and floodgates. Illusion Gate, previously a free zero-point board wipe that defined the meta, has now been slapped with a hefty 10 points per copy. To offer players an alternative, Interrupted Kaiju Slumber is now completely free to play at zero points, though the premium removal target Gameciel, the Sea Turtle Kaiju was given a precise 3-point cost to keep the newly freed Kaiju engine in check. Additionally, the widely played floodgate Dimensional Fissure finally received a 10-point cost to curb its splashability.
Meanwhile, classic strategies are seeing their restrictions recalculated to encourage more diverse deck building. The Swordsoul archetype received a fascinating rebalance: Swordsoul Supreme Sovereign - Chengying jumped from 0 to 10 points, but this is offset by Swordsoul Grandmaster - Chixiao dropping from 20 down to 10 points, Swordsoul Emergence moving from 10 to 7 points, and Swordsoul Strategist Longyuan dropping to just a single point. Duelists will need to quickly recalculate their point distributions and adapt their strategies to find the perfect winning formula for the upcoming championship season.
