Dark Magician Chaos Ritual Wins YCS Paris 2026

If you told me a year ago that we would see the Pharaoh’s signature card hoisting a Premier-level trophy in 2026, I would have laughed you out of the card shop. Yet here we are. At the massive 2,588-player YCS Paris 2026, veteran competitor Vladis Baranovskis went the distance to capture the championship using an incredible Dark Magician Chaos Ritual build. He overcame Timoti B. and his top-tier Elfnote strategy in a grueling grand final, proving that the nostalgia-bait package is actually a tier-one threat when paired with the right engine.
The strategy, often dubbed ROLAD by the community, utilizes the powerhouse ritual package introduced in Chaos Origins. By leveraging Griffoh to set Light and Darkness Ritual directly from the deck and utilizing Ragged Records of Rites for hyper-consistent searches, Baranovskis established an oppressive midrange control loop. The deck manages to bypass the traditional bricking issues of classic spellcaster builds by utilizing these fresh consistency tools. Instead of relying on passive floodgates, Baranovskis used his extra deck options to transition into high-impact threats like Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon and Dark Magician of Destruction to seal games.
Timoti B. put up a legendary fight piloting Elfnote Power Patron, a deck that had been widely tipped as the favorite to take the entire tournament. The elven strategy relies heavily on central main monster zone shifting mechanics to disrupt opposing plays, but it simply could not cope with the sheer grind game of the Chaos Ritual engine. In game three, after a back-and-forth resource battle, Baranovskis managed to resolve a flawless chain of ritual summons that completely dismantled the Elfnote board, securing a historic victory for classic card enthusiasts.
