Konami Overhauls Over 300 Genesys Points for Anniversary

Konami dropped a massive 316-card point adjustment on October 5 to mark the first anniversary of the Genesys format. What started a year ago as experimental side events at YCS Anaheim is now running full-steam alongside Advanced at premier stops, and this update delivers an aggressive structural rebalance rather than routine maintenance. The headliner is the immediate lockdown on Mitsurugi engine pieces: Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi spiked from zero up to 51 points, preventing players from freely combining its board-clearing ritual pressure with other high-cost packages under the standard 100-point ceiling.
The changes also restructure generic boss monsters and interaction staples. Baronne de Fleur dropped from 80 down to 50 points, opening the door for dedicated Synchro strategies to field standard end boards without burning almost their entire budget. Meanwhile, Phantom of Yubel was bumped to the maximum 100 points as an honorary Link Monster equivalent to rein in contact fusion abuse. Konami also placed a single point on Skull Meister, echoing previous treatment for D.D. Crow to prevent zero-cost hand traps from becoming automatic inclusions in every list.
Older archetypes received sweeping forgiveness across the board. The Dragon Rulers, ABC, True Draco, Ritual Beast, and Star Seraphs had their point tags wiped out entirely, while engines like Centur-Ion and the Bystial lineup saw sharp cost cuts across pieces like Centur-Ion Auxila and Bystial Baldrake. With A Hero Lives surging to 30 points and search engines getting harsher evaluations, decklists heading into YCS Houston will have to rebuild their math from scratch.
