Instant Fusion Escapes the Banlist in Master Duel

Konami did the unthinkable in the July 9 Master Duel update by unleashing Instant Fusion back into the wild, shifting it from Forbidden to Limited. The immediate reaction across the ranked ladder was a collective shiver of dread. Everyone who has sat through a format dominated by the mill-and-fuse menace knew exactly what this meant. It is a one-card, zero-summon ticket to Tearlaments Kitkallos. For a deck that lives and dies by its graveyard triggers, a single top-decked spell that summons Kitkallos to mill five and search any archetype card is an absolute game-changer.
The official rationale behind freeing the legendary spell seems tied to the debut of the Starved for Destruction Selection Pack, which brought a wave of Predaplant support to the game. Historically, that botanical strategy leans hard on summoning its own low-level fusions to get rolling, making the unlimiting of a cheap fusion tool logical on paper. However, competitive duelists wasted no time hijacking the card for the far more explosive Tearlaments deck. Modern builds are already abusing the freed spell alongside the ubiquitous Fiendsmith and Horus engines to create absurd amounts of graveyard setup before even committing to a Normal Summon.
This single banlist swap completely alters how you have to play hand traps on the ladder. You can no longer comfortably hold your Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring or other negates for later in the turn when a raw Instant Fusion can resolve out of nowhere and snowball the game. Combined with the constant pressure of Super Polymerization clearing established boards, opponents are forced into incredibly awkward defensive positions. While some players are already begging for a swift re-ban, for now, the mill enthusiasts are eating exceptionally well.
