Jesse Kotton Wins YCS Columbus 2026 With Branded Dracotail

5/25/2026Tournament, Meta

The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG competitive scene was ablaze this weekend as the highly anticipated YCS Columbus 2026 concluded at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. Held from May 23 to May 24, this historic event featured two simultaneous Main Events for both the Advanced Format and the brand-new Genesys format. Amidst a fiercely competitive field testing the fresh May 18th Forbidden & Limited List, superstar player Jesse Kotton secured the Advanced Format championship piloting an innovative Branded Dracotail strategy.

Kotton's mastery over the Branded and Dracotail engines—heavily bolstered by the incredible power of Fallen of the White Dragon—allowed him to navigate a diverse Top 8 bracket. The recent Banlist changes, which notably limited CupsyYummy and completely banned K9-04 Noroi, clearly opened up the competitive field. The top tables showcased incredible variance, featuring representation from Kewl Tune, Artmage, DoomZ, Mitsurugi, and Sky Striker decks. In the simultaneously run Genesys format Main Event, which drew 175 competitors, Stanley Huang claimed the ultimate prize by overpowering the competition with his dedicated Red Dragon Archfiend build.

With these results cementing the initial hierarchy of the post-banlist format, players will undoubtedly be analyzing these winning lists to refine their own strategies. As the road to the 2026 World Championship continues, Duelists everywhere are eager to see if Branded and Dracotail will maintain their grip on the competitive landscape.
