June 2026 Genesys Points Update Shakes Up the Meta

6/10/2026Banlist, Meta

On June 8, 2026, Konami revealed the highly anticipated Genesys June Points Update for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG, directly addressing the meta shifts seen after the first Genesys event at YCS Columbus. Following Stanley Huang’s impressive victory at the tournament, the update applies strict new point costs to overperforming engines and staples, slowing down the top-tier strategies in the unique point-based format.

Powerful board breakers and floodgates were a major focus of this update, with both Dimensional Fissure and Illusion Gate leaping from 0 to 10 points. Hand traps were also adjusted, as Nibiru the Primal Being and Mulcharmy Fuwalos both climbed to 8 points. Top-performing archetypes like Swordsoul, Kewl Tune, and Radiant Typhoon didn't escape the radar either; Swordsoul Supreme Sovereign - Chengying surged to 10 points, while Kewl Tune Clip and Radiant Typhoon Krosea saw targeted point hikes to limit their dominant splashability.

In an effort to diversify the competitive landscape, several beloved archetypes like Labrynth and Yang Zing saw the point values of their strongest tools reduced. Big Welcome Labrynth dropped to 15 points, and Denglong, First of the Yang Zing had its cost cut in half to just 10 points. The classic spell Change of Heart also dropped from 6 to 3 points, making it a much more appealing tech option for duelists looking to steal games going second.

As players scramble to re-optimize their point allocations, the upcoming North America World Championship Qualifier in Minneapolis is poised to showcase a wildly unpredictable Genesys metagame!
